Thankful Thursday

As I sit on my couch in my warm house with my family this evening, and consider some recent conversations, I realize how much I have to be thankful for.  I just heard today about a couple who have chosen to call it quits after 37 years of marriage.  How grateful I am for my wife of 31 years (as of December 29) and the life God has blessed us with.  I know one of the keys to the success of our relationship is the time we spend praying with and for each other.  I'm thankful for the avenue of communication God has provided for us and for the power available to us when we pray.  The same power that raised Christ Jesus from the dead works in me, bringing new life and transformation.

I'm also thankful this evening for:

my job

new grass

my servant hearted son

music

God's peace that guards my heart and mind

freedom

friends

God's word

love that sent Christ to the cross

Thankful Thursday

Sharing with an old friend yesterday who I hadn't seen in many years.  As we caught up on the twists and turns of our lives, I was reminded of how much I have to be thankful for.

God's timing and orchestration in my life.

God's amazing love for each one of us.

His provision.

The promise of eternity spent with Jesus.

God's patience with me.

The blessing of family.

On another note, some of the homes I get into make me very thankful for:

A wife who is neat and orderly.

The fact that I don't have any pets.

A clean and comfortable place to come home to.

People who are glad to see me at the end of the day.

Kind words.

And of course this list would not be complete without--

GRACE!

Thankful Thursday

The list of things I have to be thankful for is endless.  Just sitting down and taking some time to think about it lifts my spirits.  The few things I mention here only scratch the surface of all the blessings I've received from the good hand of my God.  Tonight I praise Him for:

His faithfulness

His holiness and purity

His incredible patience

Our new driveway

Strength for working and playing

Joy

Living water

My family

Chats with my kids

Opportunities to serve

Challenging messages

Thankful Thursday

Thinking about a verse from Isaiah 42 recently.

And I will lead the blind by a way they do not know, in paths they do not know I will guide them.  I will make darkness into light before them and rugged places into plains.  These are the things I will do, and I will not leave them undone.
Is. 42:16

I am so grateful God gave sight to this blind man.

I praise Him for being my Guide, leading me even when I don't know the path I'm on.

I'm thankful He smooths the way in front of me.

I know His word is true, and He will not leave these things undone.

In addition, I'm thankful for:

God's faithfulness

His everlasting love

Rain!

A boss who is a brother and a friend

Challenging conversations

Growth--even though the process is painful at times

Family

Grace!
